DTLA Film Festival names ‘Yeva’ best film

The 11th Annual DTLA Film Festival in Los Angeles has named Iran-Armenia joint cinematic project ‘Yeva’ best film.

The 11th Annual DTLA Film Festival in Los Angeles has named Iran-Armenia joint cinematic project ‘Yeva’ best film.

Directed by Anahid Abad, the movie bagged award for the best foreign film of the US screening event.

‘Yeva’ has recently kicked off its global premiere on November 1 in the Southern California city of Los Angeles and the rest of the American states alike.   

The cast list of the flick includes many recognized actors and actresses from Armenia such as Narine Grigoryan and Shant Hovhannisyan. 

Produced by Taqi Aliqolizadeh, ‘Yeva’ is about the life challenges of a woman who is under prosecution following her husband’s murder. 

Attending many global film festivals, ‘Yeva’ is recipient of many prestigious film awards, including award for best feature film at the 2018 Arpa Int’l Film Festival in Los Angeles, Grand Prix Award at the 6th Socially Relevant Film Festival in the US, Best Film award at the 14th Rolan – Int’l Film Festival for Children and Youth in Armenia as well as Best Screenplay award from the 15th Golden Apricot Yerevan Int’l Film Festival in Armenia.

Established in 2008, the festival - as put by the website – is the largest single film event in the historic center and the new creative nexus of Los Angeles. The vast majority of films screening at the festival are Los Angeles premieres from filmmakers in the U.S. and around the world.

The latest edition of DTLA took place on October 23-27, 2019.
